General Information

How to Sign Up for a Class, Studio Time and More Information including: Refund Policies, Project Storage and Missed Classes

How do I sign up for a class?  Students wishing to register for a class must either call the studio (224)735-2376 or email us at to request a reservation for a class.  At this time we do not register students through the website.  Not all of the classes listed on the class pages appear on the website calendar, as many run concurrent with other classes.  Please call or email the studio for additional information.

Project Storage: We have very limited space for the storage of students projects. We are happy to store your project for you while you are actively coming to our studio. However, we would appreciate you taking your project home should you know that you will be absent for an extended period of time. Projects left over 60 (sixty) days will be considered abandoned and disposed of unless alternative arrangements have been made.

Studio Time: Students who have completed beginning level Quick and Easy class will be eligible to purchase “Studio Time Cards.” Each card is $40 and is good for eight(8) one-hour sessions. Your 9th and 10th session are on the house for a total of 10 one-hour sessions! If you are already an experienced stained glass artist you may purchase “Studio Time Cards” or pay for studio time by the hour. Our fee is $5 per hour. During studio time, people may use our grinders and other heavy duty tools (band saw, table saw, etc.) but, they must provide their own hand tools and supplies (ie, rubbing alcohol, masking tape, pens and pencils, flux remover, polish, patina, etc.) Studio Time is run Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM, and Wednesday and Thursdays 6:00-8:00 PM.  You must call us prior to coming into our studio to insure there is space available. Students registered for classes and those who have called ahead to reserve a spot will be given priority.

Due to the popularity of our classes, we have instituted the following guidelines to guarantee space in our classes and to avoid last minute cancellations:

  1. All classes must be paid for in full to reserve a space in our classes.
  2. Tuition Refund Policy: WE DO NOT REFUND CLASS FEES OR DEPOSITS. However, we will make every effort to allow you to make up a class if you find you are unable to attend a class for which you have registered. Students should call within 24 hours of the start of a class if they will be unable to attend.
  3. Any classes cancelled by Suevel Studios due to inclement weather, instructor illness, lack of enrollment or an unforeseen emergency will be rescheduled. In cases of questionable weather conditions, a decision of whether to cancel the class will be made as early as possible. We will call the number you provide to notify you of a cancellation.
  4. Prerequisites: These are determined by the instructor for each class. They are at the discretion of the instructor and only the instructor may waive them.

Who may enroll in our classes? Anyone over 18 years of age may enroll. We offer special classes for young adults under 18 in some cases. You must call the studio; however, we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.

Will I need my own hand tools?

Students generally will be required to provide their own hand tools for all classes beyond the Quick and Easy beginning level classes. The studio will provide the use of specialty tools for the Quick and Easy Classes. Those repeating a class will be required to provide their own hand tools.  Students utilizing Studio Time will be required to provide their own hand tools.

Can I take a makeup class for a missed class?

We will make every effort to allow you to make up a class if you find you are unable to attend a given session of a class. However, missed sessions must be completed by the end of the calendar year in which you are taking the class unless other arrangements have been made with the instructor.

  1. I didn’t see a description for your glass sampler classes, could you tell me which classes are included and how much the package costs? Thanks!

    • Celeste the Glass Sampler is a combination of four Intro classes. They usually are Intro to stained glass, fusing, lamp working and mosaic. Each class is $60.00 and it will give you a little taste of each of those. You can look on the calendar for those classes and and in the class descriptions for the classes. See ya there!

      • Can you tell me when your next class is for the “Glass Sampler”

      • Kathy an easy way to do the Glass Sampler is to keep an eye on the Introduction Classes and sign up for them as the come up on the calendar.

  2. What is the Glaskolben class?

  3. IDEA: I took the beginning glass fusing class. I put magnetic tape on the back of my pieces to use as magnets instead of using them as necklace pendants.

  4. Has the next frit class schedule been posted yet?

    • Hi Marta. The boss should be posting the rest of the classes over the next couple of weeks. If you would like to call and speak to her directly she would probably have more information.

  5. I want to take your beginning g stained glass class. How do I sign up for the Arlington hts location?

  6. I have taken a beginning stained glass class at another studio. I have made many basic projects on my own since then. I am interested in an intermediate class to improve my skills. I see there is one that has already started, will there be another anytime soon?

    • Theresa, If you have had other classes and have the skills for the next level just contact the studio and you can set up a starting date.

  7. I would like to sign up for the intro class but do not see a schedule or how to sign up.

    • All the class schedules are posted on the calendar. We suggest that you pick a few class because we only allow 8 students per class and once a class has 8 students it is considered closed. Then when you have the days that could work for you, you can call the studio to see if any of the days are available. The studio is closed Sundays and Mondays.

  8. Hi!
I’ll be in Chicago until october 13. I would like to take a class with you. Where is your address to visit you today?

    Thank you,

  9. Can I have further information on your advanced mosaics classes? Times, dates, etc would be appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Cindy Robin
    Robins Nest Mosaics

    • Hi Robin, We offer an intermediate mosaic class that allows students to explore different types of applications and materials for doing mosaic. Each class offers 24 hours of instructional time. Students are given a card with 24 squares and they punch 1 square for every hour they are in the studio. You may take your Mosaic class time during other Mosaic class times at the studio. At the moment, that would be Tuesdays mornings 10 – 1; and on Saturdays 10 – 4. Each week you would schedule a time to come in and work with the instructor on your project. This is a class designed for a student who is already doing mosaic work and understands the basic concepts and terminology. In addition, students must have their own tools. Students are expected to purchase the majority of their supplies through the studio. Hope this answers your questions. Feel free to contact the studio during business hours if you have any other questions.

  10. Is there a retail shop i can visit on site without taking classes?
